MISSION
To serve as a leader, catalyst and resource for building a sustainable and resilient Yampa Valley region.
YVSC is a nonprofit organization based in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Our work as an organization is to find ways to connect knowledge to actions that build a more sustainable and resilient community. This starts with finding common ground, core values and places of connection, to collaboratively create initiatives that sustain the rich cultural and natural heritage we treasure. We lead programming across five priority areas including Waste Diversion, Energy, Transportation, Resilient Land and Water and Community Engagement, all anchored in strategies that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and increase resiliency to projected changes in the region.

Are you an artist who is interested in participating in or learning more about Yampa Valley Sustainability Council’s Insight: Art for Climate Action fundraiser? Now is your chance! During our first Artist Engagement event on Sunday, March 24th from 1-3 p.m. at Steamboat Creates, we will be exploring the intentions behind this fundraiser and how to use art as a means of communicating about climate change. All attendees will have the opportunity to meet other artists who are also interested in participating this year, and, together, we will explore Steamboat Creates’ Create Space to search for materials that we might be able to repurpose for our pieces. Is your business positioned to capture an increasing consumer base committed to sustainability and social responsibility? Consumers are getting wise to greenwashing and many now look for third-party certification to inform their consumer choices. Recognition through the Colorado Green Business Network offers that third party verification (for free!).
Join Yampa Valley Sustainability Council and the Steamboat Springs Chamber for the second of four ‘Business Leadership for Climate’ workshops and learn about the benefits of state-level recognition and how to earn points to reach Bronze-level certification year one.
Free lunch generously provided by Hypnotic Chicken and energy bars from Bar-U-Eat.
If you were unable to attend the first workshop, you are still welcome to join the series. During this workshop, the Colorado Green Business Network of the Yampa Valley (CGBN-YV) team will:
- Provide a brief overview of the green business program and the support role they can play in connecting your business with state resources.
- Walk through the recognition application process and how to earn points.
- Foster the growth of our Yampa Valley green business community.
The event is free and open to the public, but registration is required.
